YMCA-YWCA OttawaIn addition to the Emergency Overflow Shelter and the Second Stage Transitional Housing Program for Youth, the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA offers 144 rooms on gender specific floors to single men and women aged 18 or over who require affordable accommodation. The program serves students, Newcomers to Canada, individuals in transition due to separation and divorce, those living in unsafe or unstable housing, and individuals coping with issues related to physical/mental health, or substance abuse. The program provides 24 hour on site crisis support and referral services and works closely with outreach services offered by Centertown Community Health Center, Canadian Mental Health Association and the Royal Ottawa Hospital. Housing Support Staff work closely with the tenants to create an environment of mutual respect, support and tolerance.
